STORY

The Abai family is loosely based on the family of Nipsey Hussle. The patriarch of the Abai family runs an Etrian African restaurant and community center with his wife Savanna (39) and his daughter Golden (21). His three boys Samuel, Aaron (inspired by Nipsey,) and older brother Serge, currently a high-ranking member of the Rolling 60s Crips.

Aaron Abai, the main character, is on a path to Hip-Hop success and community empowerment via taking back the blocks given away to powerful real estate interests in South Los Angeles.

The insular neighborhood and Nipsey’s immigrant, working-class family, face many dynamics as the evolving 77th Precinct, where data-driven policing is the ‘new norm’.

Fancy partnerships between private intelligence corporations like Palantir, owned by Billionaire

Peter Thiel, provide street-level enforcement cops with future policing data; the relationship

between the LAPD, corporate interests, and land barons is a corrupt trifecta that has allowed Aaron’s neighborhood to quietly start the process of gentrification and corporatization of South LA and the Crenshaw District.

This isn’t your corrupt LAPD of the mid 90s or early 2000s, this is a new secretive cabal of interests where Surveillance is king.
