OVERVIEW
If you’ve been paying attention to the social trends, you probably have some inkling that boys and men are struggling, in the U.S. and across the globe.
Males are much more likely than females to die by suicide. This disparity may be due, in part, to the greater reluctance among males to seek mental health treatment and internalized expectations around “masculine behavior.”
Men are also struggling physically. Men account for close to three out of every four “deaths of despair” — suicide and drug overdoses.
Men feel the need to fall into a false narrative of what 'strength' is.
Men are facing a crisis in society due to economic struggles, loneliness, and lack of role models, and their mental health issues and challenges should be addressed with compassion and understanding rather than blame, as they face higher rates of addiction, incarceration, and suicide compared to women.
On this show, we are having the conversation.
We are talking about the hardships that exist within manhood, but also the joy and pride that can come out of it too.
Nothing is off limits, and everything is on the table.
This is, Things Men Don’t Talk About with Brad Perry.
